RockToBER - HELL o wEEN pART Two

had a blast at this year's neptoon records halloween instore! thanks to rob, ben and mike for having us. btw cc's costume was rad too and i bet you're wondering what colin was supposed to be? obviously a stowaway! it's weird though, i don't remember changing from my fisherman's hat into mike park's wolfman mask mid-set?

RockToBER - HELL o wEEN pART oNE

bunch of us met up at jake's and were gonna go to the opening of the waldorf but heard it was linedup around the block at 7 and over capacity (2000 people?) before we were even ready to leave so we all headed up and managed to get in to the sold out bokus togus show. mapee handed me a mic as they were going into their rendition of nofx's "don't call me white" (they were doing all 80-90's punk covers as a festive change of pace) and i realised shortly thereafter that other than the song's title i don't know the lyrics to "don't call me white". fortunately, as you can see here, my crowdsurf face is still pretty tight.

(poster by jeffrylee.ca photos by arch and sc.lewis)
couple sick shows this month- opened for pierced arrows who are one of my favourite bands still in existence and did something totally different for olio festival total folk-y set* which was of course fitting at the railway and load in/out was a breeze. happy birthday babe!
"Over at the Railway Club, Hard Drugs offered up backwoods acoustic ballads and a gorgeous, harmony-laden cover of the folk hymnal "Will the Circle Be Unbroken.""(Olio Festival review excerpt from Exclaim! magazine)
*no drums or bass but check out t bot mcgee sitting in on acoustic!

(another great photo by ryan walter wagner from the discorder magazine site)
this whole weekend was a blast but the 510 show on sunday afternoon definitely had the best vibe. southeast engine who played before us were awesome and my parents made it down which i think was their first time seeing us. huge thanks to all our gracious hosts- zak and everyone at sled, dan, sloth dave, seth, and glenn beatroute. see you next year?

the start is cut off but an otherwise pretty sweet little viddy from tsururadio.com

sLED isLAND DAy Two- LoRD BiG wEiNERs!

this show was kinda sparsely attended, pretty much friends and family but that's cool, that's what happens when The Melvins are playing a few blocks away and everyone in town has tickets or wristbands... here you can see that jenni is obviously having a blast-and-a-half with our bros from Lord Beginner who just got off tour with the *mighty* Black Mountain. It was rad to see them and our only show in Calgary as a 7-piece. oh yeah also FREE FOOD!

touring should always be like an (almost) all expense paid holiday with friends. you're never too old to borrow your parents minivan and go on a road trip! unfortunately we forgot to borrow their tripod...

music+food=true love may 2010 tour- seattle still rules

best show of the tour thanks to our awesome host justin for not only taking us in but our bro brooklyn shawn and my cat as well! "They both sang, and kept time stomping their feet. Their back-and-forth was charming in the best sense of the word, and proved yet again that a man, woman, and good pair of boots still makes more compelling music than a laptop." music+food+sk8boarding=true love may 2010 tour- the saint of cruising

it should be no secret that we have a huge soft spot for santa cruz. it's where we spent our honeymoon. it's where our favourite burrito place is. it's where our favourite rollercoaster is. it's got this sweet new skatepark.
now if we could only get a show there next time...show us some love devil makes three!

music+food=true love may 2010 tour- el lay, lalaland, the city of angels

lalaland? more like lululand! cutest frigging cat ever! good show, glad to be back at the echo where i played my last and maybe only other good l.a. show. got to see some of our rad friends who've been relocating to silver lake and echo park as of late. big thanks to mo and dave for being awesome hosts and hooking up the show...
"This husband and wife duo just happened to be passing through town and picked up the gig much to the audiences delight. Their songs were basic and folky, but the charm and conviction with which they deliver their music was refreshing." (show review from examiner.com
